SPNN Youth December Updates!

Welcome to the SPNN Youth Programs Update for December, 2006.

What’s New with Set it Up

Set It Up, SPNN's teen produced television show, is busy producing their first show for the season. The show will include biographies of each member of the crew, as well as an unveiling of the new Set it Up intro. Tune in to the first show in January online or on Channel 16 on Mondays at 7PM!

In addition, Set It Up is looking for a volunteer to help out Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30pm starting in January. The volunteer's main activity will be working directly with high school aged crew members as they prepare, shoot, and edit segments for the show. Experience with media production or youth work preferred. If you are interested, please contact Andrea Lehmann, Youth Programs Coordinator at 651-361-8141 or email her at lehmann@spnn.org.

Connections Class in January!

In January, SPNN will be offering a free video class for teens through the Connections Program. The class, called Digital Storytelling, is a narrative video production class. Students will create a script, and then shoot and edit a short video. The class begins on Saturday January 13th from 9-12PM and continues for 10 weeks. Student will earn ½ High School credit for taking the class.

If you'd like to sign up, or know a youth who would like to sign up, contact Steve Wojta from the Connections Program at stephen.wojta@spps.org or 651-221-1446.

Seeking New Partners for Neighborhood Video Workshops

SPNN Youth Programs is seeking non-profit community-based organizations to partner with to run after-school neighborhood video workshops starting in January 2007. We are specifically looking for organizations working with middle school and high school aged youth in the following neighborhoods: Thomas-Dale, Dayton's Bluff, North End, Summit-University, Payne-Phalen and the West Side.

The workshops would be free of charge, and would be taught by a SPNN Youth Programs staff member. If your organization is interested in participating, please contact Jim Thomas, Americorps Youth Outreach, at thomas@spnn.org or 651-298-8919.
